Rags to Riches Challenge (FS25)

Overview

You start with absolutely nothing. Your goal is to build a fully self-sustaining agricultural empire from zero assets to a $5,000,000 bank balance using any legitimate survival strategy you can devise.


Starting Conditions

Map

  • Kinlaig (mandatory)

Economy

  • Start From Scratch
  • Hard Economy
  • Start money: 100.000
  • Start Loan: -100.000

Assets

  • No owned land
  • No vehicles
  • No buildings
  • No equipment

Economic Reset Rule

The very first action upon starting the game is to repay the starting loan using the available starting funds.

No purchases, contracts, or setup actions may be performed before this step.

Required Settings

  • Crop Destruction: ON
  • Periodic Plowing: ON
  • Lime Required: ON
  • Stones: ON

Financial Rules

No Financing

  • No leasing
  • No renting
  • No bank loans
  • No financial assistance mods

Bankruptcy Rule

If a monthly bill causes your balance to become negative:

  • You have 6 in-game days to recover to $0 or higher.
  • You may only sell owned assets during this period.
  • If you fail to recover within 6 days, the challenge is failed.

Property & Homestead Rules

The Homestead Rule

You may not own vehicles or heavy machinery until you own at least one piece of land.

Equipment Storage

All equipment must be stored on owned land.

Parking equipment anywhere else is prohibited.

Land Ownership

Land may not be sold once purchased.

Exception: Bankruptcy recovery.


Hand Tool Exception

The following may be purchased before owning land:

  • Chainsaws
  • Axes
  • Hand mowers
  • Weeders
  • Similar hand-carried tools

The following are NOT allowed before owning land:

  • Hand trolley
  • Pallet truck
  • Wheelbarrow
  • Any wheeled equipment

Income & Contracts

Open-Ended Start

You may earn your initial income using any base-game survival mechanic:

  • Forestry
  • Fishing
  • Foraging
  • Other legitimate methods

Contracts

Contracts may only be completed using equipment fully owned by the player.

Borrowed contract equipment is prohibited.

Selling

Produce may be sold at any sell point at any time.

Single Player Only

Multiplayer and co-op play are not permitted.


Production Rules

The Supply Route

You must own and control every step of your production chain.

Zero Commercial Inputs

You may not purchase production inputs from the shop.

All inputs must be:

  • Grown
  • Harvested
  • Collected

from your own operation.


Animal Husbandry

Animals are allowed.

Requirements:

  • Follow the Supply Route rule.
  • No purchased feed.
  • No purchased straw.
  • No purchased silage.
  • All feed and bedding must be self-produced.

Animals may only be purchased after:

  • Owning land
  • Having adequate feed production/storage

Victory Conditions

Farming Empire

  • Own at least 10 fields
  • Grow at least 3 crop types

Machinery Fleet

  • 1 Large Tractor
  • 1 Medium Tractor
  • 1 Harvester

Production Empire

Own at least one complete production chain.

Examples:

Bakery

Field → Wheat → Grain Mill → Bakery

Dairy

Field → Grass/Hay/Silage → Cows → Dairy

The chain must be actively producing at the time of victory.

Wealth Target

Reach $5,000,000 in liquid cash.

Land, equipment, buildings, and stored goods do not count.
